Lomé Container Terminal (LCT) S.A., “The Pearl of Africa,” a major operator in port handling and transshipment, aims to carry out its activities in harmony with quality standards and the well-being requirements of populations regarding Hygiene, Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Social matters (HSSE).
From the beginning, our operators, technicians, economists, administrative staff, and General Management have participated in the evolution of our activities and work daily to increase environmental quality and our performance. Carrying out our activities while respecting the Sustainable Development Goals means being responsible toward communities and future generations. The pursuit of continuous improvement in our performance must not mortgage future life.
LCT gives the highest priority to the safety and health of all its employees, to diversity/social integration, as well as to its commitment to the environment. Our goal is zero workplace accidents and zero occupational diseases. Appropriate management of safety and health will only have positive effects on company yields and will promote a climate of peace among staff who will spare no effort for customer satisfaction.
One of the fundamental doctrines of our policy is respecting internal and external safety and health standards at all times. Hygiene, security, safety, health, and environment are under the responsibility of the HSSE department and LCT’s General Management. HSSE policies are an integral part of General Management’s managerial strategy. Moreover, each employee is individually responsible for safety and is required to create a work environment that eliminates occupational risks related to safety and health as much as possible. The Occupational Safety and Health Committee monitors outcomes and results.
We provide the necessary training and resources to meet our HSSE requirements. Regarding intermediaries, subcontractors, or any other actor operating at our terminal, we hold them to the same safety standards as our staff.
